President

It gives me immense pleasure to connect with you through the official website of our library as its President. The creation of this new website has been an important step towards taking our library to an international platform and making its rich collection of books accessible to readers everywhere. We had been working towards this goal for quite some time, and with your encouragement and best wishes, we are delighted to launch this website as a new medium to serve our members, readers, and well-wishers. For the past 198 years, the library has been fulfilling the reading aspirations of generations of readers. Books are carefully selected and acquired based on the interests and requests of our members. We also make every effort to ensure that newly published, high-quality books are made available to readers as quickly as possible. Over the years, the library has had the privilege of being associated with eminent personalities such as Swami Swarupanand and Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. From its humble beginnings as the Konkan Book Society to its present identity as Ratnagiri (District) Nagar Vachanalaya, the library has grown into a distinguished institution deeply connected with the historical, cultural, and social heritage of Ratnagiri. Today, it continues to be a centre of attraction not only for readers from Ratnagiri but also for book lovers across India. Through this website, we can now stay connected more easily than ever before. It enables us to share timely information about the library's cultural events, literary activities, and various initiatives. At the same time, it provides a convenient platform for readers and visitors to communicate with us. Inspired by the second law of library science proposed by Dr. S. R. Ranganathan—"Every reader his or her book"—our goal has always been to make the library's collection easily accessible to every reader, and this website is a significant step towards achieving that objective. Likewise, in keeping with Dr. Ranganathan's third law—"Every book its reader"—you can download the library membership application form directly from our website and become a member of this historic institution. I sincerely hope that you will make full use of the services offered through this website and continue to support the growth and development of our library.
